Choosing the right bow size
There are several types of show bows and all them come in many sizes. Make sure you make a right decision. A good dog, with a beautiful head can look terrible with the wrong bow or an inaccurate topknot.
How do I choose the right bow for my dog when I go to a dog show?
Some tips and data:
3/8″ single loop / 9.5mm single loop dog bow
This kind of bow is apt for a puppy or a dog up to 3 lbs (or up to 1,5 kg).
3/8″ double loop / 9.5mm double loop dog bow
This is a bow for a dog from 3 lbs/1,5 Kg to 6 lbs/2,8 kg, like an adult maltese or a yorkshire terrier.
5/8″ single loop / 16mm single loop dog bow
Same as 3/8” or 9,5mm double loop, this is a bow for a dog from 3 lbs/1,5 Kg to 6 lbs/2,8 kg, like an adult maltese or a yorkshire terrier.
5/8″ double loop / 16mm double loop dog bow
The most popular among show bows. Adult shih tzus, yorkshire terriers, lhasa apsos, poodles, etc may use these bows either for show or glamour - it depends on the breed. In case you are not into show, this is a great bow for a dog from 4 lbs/1,80 kg to 10 lbs/4,5 kg.
7/8″ single loop / 22mm single loop dog bow
This is not a very common bow, you might only use it with a yorkshire, but smaller sized than usual.
7/8″ double loop / 22mm double loop dog bow
This is a bow that will use a dog over 8 lbs/3,6 kg.
